I Want Lunch and Case of Missing Cell Phone
Today really was the first day of H E double hockey sticks or what some people call summer. Today all 9 were home, and since Bradley is now unemployed he is home full time, not that he was the cause of all the problems today.
Like usual our day started in the middle of the night, with Amanda playing noisy reporter on Bradley – David – and Bradley’s on again off again, currently off girl friends life. You see David is involved because apparently David and Bradley kept calling her house, what they were saying or why, I have no clue, but anyway she said she was going to get a restraining order on Bradley. You gotta wonder about young love. So I manage to go back to sleep and finish my night.
About an hour later, Logan is in our doorway upset because he is hot and itchy, he is covered head to toe in hives. So we give him some medicine and let him get his blanket and pillow and sleep on our floor. We turn off the light and go back to sleep. Next, Emily comes in our room and wants to know if she can sleep in our room, cause she is hot, we say okay she goes and gets her blanket and pillow. Now keep in mind that we actually have one of the smallest bedrooms, outside of Amanda’s and Bradley’s bedroom, it is only like 10 x 12 and it has a queen size bed, a big chair, a desk and a large dresser in it. As you can imagine there is not much floor space. So Emily finds a spot to sleep in. Meghan shows up at the door looking for a cool place to sleep, she turns on the light, we all squint our eyes, she cannot find any room so she decides to sleep on our chair. That’s right on our chair.
I try to go to sleep but I think about how funny Meghan is. She is vision impaired but hilarious. She is also gifted, thank god. She can fall asleep any where. One time we were at bowling and she fell asleep under the table because she got tired. She was waiting for her turn and simply fell asleep. It was always great when she was little because she never fought going to sleep she would simply say, “I’m tired” and would go to sleep. Luckily she is very confident and strong. She gets all her text books in school enlarged so they are all huge and very heavy. See her weightlifting pays off. I had to laugh to myself. She is a great kid. So I finally fell asleep myself.
When I woke up it was because David was bothering Brendan, big shocker there. He is always bothering Brendan. Then Meghan came in all upset about her cell phone, Amanda had asked to borrow it to text someone with the same plan which is free and she used $5 on her phone, which is 50 texts. Amanda made up some dumb story about an ex boyfriends girl friend that kept texting her, we were all like yeah right. Meghan was practically in tears because she pays for her cell phone herself with her chore money. The kids all have chores and if they do their chore without us having to nag them to do it for the entire week than they get paid. Their pay is equal to 1/2 their age, so Meghan get $6.50 per week, so she needs to save 1/2 her money each month just for her cell phone. So she really saves. Amanda also has a cell phone but she always either A) doesn’t do her chores or B) spends her money on other things. David hardly ever gets chore money, and Dylan has recently quit doing his chore which was dishes which is the only chore he can do with his broken back.
So that was the first case of cell phone problems next came the case of the missing cell phone. We could not find Tim’s cell phone anywhere. I had put it on the desk chair along with mine right before I fell asleep, my phone was there but his was gone. We searched everywhere. We simply could not figure it out. Rumors circled the house did Amanda have it, Meghan had it, someone even said they saw Logan with it. See rumors are rough, everyone says they saw someone else with it. You can never ask a simple question like “Has anyone seen dad’s cell phone?” No one can give a simple answer like no, it is so and so has it, or I saw so and so taking pictures with it.
So hours went by and no cell phone, then mysteriously it appeared on the ledge outside my door. Like poof, and the cell phone appeared. We went on line and there were several text messages and money spent on the phone as well. We all know who had it but no one is admitting guilt.
That is one of the big problems with a large family, no one has to admit guilt. They figure they can do something and act like they didn’t do it. There are enough people in the house to blame.
So we were upstairs doing some grant writing, and we heard a song coming from down stairs “I……Waaaaaannnnttt….Lllllllluuuuuuuunnnnnncccccchhhhh, I………… Waaaaaaaaannnt Luuuuuuuuuuunch.” It was Logan he was requesting lunch. He was so cute singing for his lunch. Next he will be standing outside collecting money. So we make lunch, this is what was for lunch, remember lunch for 11 people. Macaroni n Tuna Fish Salad and Chips – Here are the ingredients – 3 Pounds Macaroni, 4 Cans Tuna Fish, 2 Cans Peas, 1 Jar Olives, 6 Eggs, Jar of Mayo, and 1 Big Bag Chips.
After lunch we got some more singing but this time the song came from Amanda in the form of complaining. We were doing work and she was trying to get us to let her do a few things – bring her to fireworks and drop her and Meghan off there – No Way, and let her go to her 17 year old Boy Friends House to go swimming for the day. When we say no she starts this screaming/crying fit about how we blame everything on her and that she doesn’t do anything wrong, and that we don’t let her see her boyfriend, or let her do anything. She was acting like a complete lunatic expecting us to drive her to her boyfriends who lives an hour and half away. We tried to calmly explain that we do not trust her being there. There was a situation early where things went on that we did not trust, that should not have happened, so we are not letting her go there for now. So she thinks if she screams in our faces that we are going to change our minds. We actually have loosened up the leash a bit we let her go off to the movies with her boyfriend last weekend and she was
