Dog’s Skin Tag Feels Like A Nipple

Here are 7 of the kids

Here are 7 of the kids

Well Today we had to get up even earlier because it was Amanda’s turn. Her appointment was at 9 was we had to leave at 830am. I was up late again because I was stressed out about one of my clients you see. You see ever since Tim stopped working at his job as a teacher we have been counting on grant writing as our main income. I have my full time grant writing job and Tim has been doing some part time grant work. As well as we have both been doing some writing work.So I have been a little stressed out counting on money from a business to support our family.

Oh something happened last night that was really funny. My son TJ, was describing the dog’s skin tag to his brothers and said it felt like a girls nipple.  I had to laugh, it was just to funny. Now I am not sure if he really said it or not but it was so funny.

So the dental office is getting to know our family on a first name basis. And the sad thing is that we have several more visits scheduled over the next few weeks for the kids to have their actual work done on their teeth. So Amanda has 7 cavities and needs to come back for sealants and needs to have them filled. Amanda has a ventricular heart defect so she has to have antibiotics prior to dental work so I was shocked when we got to the dentists office and they had medication there waiting for her, I was just like wow, what service.

So we were home by 10am and Tim ran up to the pharmacy to get my prescriptions filled. You see our, mine and Tim’s, health insurance became effective today, yeah. So no more paying over $600 per month in prescriptions. That was the biggest trouble with being uninsured, it is bad enough having to pay cash to see the doctors but you don’t even realize the cost of the medications I take. I have migraines so I have 2 medications that I take on a daily basis for that as well as arthritis in my knees so it amounts to over $600 per month in medications, pretty rediculous, and that doesn’t even account for times when the kids have had an ear infection or have had strep throat.

So I got some of my work done for the day on my grant writing. I did some research for a school in Harlem and I wrote two grant applications.

A little while ago David was teasing Amanda so Amanda started chasing David saying he was going to kiss him and hug him, she was saying “Davie commere, I wanna give y0u a kissiebo, Davie I love you” and she was charing his all around the house.

Then the kids made brownies and they were cooling on the stove and Logan went down to get Tim and I one and Dylan started flipping out on him for touching it. Logan said I touched it with the tachula, instead of spatula. It was funny.

Well to be continued, gotta do some more work. Well we ate dinner at 830pm, because I ended up taking a nap. Tim made dinner, 3 large ham steaks, 6 boxes kraft mac n cheese and 3 pounds of corn, mmmmm! I was so happy that he made dinner. I sat up in bed and worked on a grant proposal for USAID for a group of docs providing care for cardiovascular disease in emerging countries and wrote an article on The South Beach Diet on Phase 1 Foods, sounds exciting right?

Now it is 1120pm and I am finally getting to some fun stuff, writing this blogg and checking on my twitter. In case you are not on twitter look me up my name on twitter is micheleaclarke come and follow me there. I also have several articles published, I link them their as they get published.

Well thank you for reading, you are all my friends, I thank you all fore reading and please come back tomorrow!! If you miss a day, they are all here.

Good Night

Playground Hors

Today we got up and started getting things packed to go to the beach. Logan was getting dressed and he was singing again he was singing Noooooooboooooddddy looooook aaaaaat mmmmmmmeeeeee. Singing it over and over from his room, talk about cute. There is a lake near our house, about 30 minutes away. Emily gets everything packed up the bathing suits and towels and beach toys. She packed up Logans, Brendan, Hers and Meghan’s stuff. We told David he could go if he behaved himself. Tim and I had to run up to Walmart to pick up one of mine and Logan’s prescriptions as well as a little bit of food and some Jelly. Emily was going to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as soon as we got home.

While we were gone we got a call from Emily saying it was raining out and cloudy at our house, it was doing the same at Walmart. Emily sounded so upset. We told her that my sister Lisa had invited us to her house tomorrow and that we would be going swimming at her house and having a bbq there. The kids were all so sad they really wanted to go to the beach.

So we got home the kids had lunch. Lunch consisted of 3 loaves of bread, 1 large jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly and a bag of chips and a gallon of iced tea. Emily was a good girl she made it all. So we rewarded her with a pack of sugarless bubble gum. After our trip to the dentist the other day, sugarless gum was going to be it in our house. Any other sticky type sugary candy was not going to be purchased by our money. We also got a call from Amanda who had to get picked up at her friends house. They were having septic problems and had no bathroom services. So we left the kids there and went too pick up Amanda. So we drove over to pick up Amanda which is about a half hour away.

We were gone for over an hour and the kids kept on calling. First Logan calls, that’s right Logan called and he said that Brendan was missing. I asked him to put Emily on the phone I could here David messing around in the background, Logan put down the phone and left. I hung up and called Bradley to ask what was going on, of course he didnt know. I asked where TJ was. He said TJ went to someones graduation party. So I told Bradley to find Brendan and call me back. Emily calls me says that Logan told her to call me, she says that she is hiding Brendan because David keeps teasing him saying he is going to put glass in his foot and that they keep fighting. Emily is such a good girl, protecting her younger siblings. I would rather she just kick David’s but and get it over with, I know bad thing to say. But he is always bothering them and they need to just stick up for themselves to end it.

So we get home and yell at David, lotta good it does and we tell him that he is not going to Lisa’s house tomorrow. You see we only have one vehicle right now and as you can imagine 9 kids + 2 adults do not fit into 1 mini van. Well TJ has work, so that leaves 8 and David is not being punished so that is 7, just need to exclude 1-2 more and we will be all set. We also have a smaller car but TJ decided to use it without permission. The air in the tire was running low and he bent the rim on the tire and we simply have not had the time or funds to get it fixed. We have been giving TJ so much money to keey our other car going when his car bit the dust. TJ’s cars transmission dropped so we gave him one of our cars, well he decided to take our 3rd car because it is a convertible and he ruined the tire in doing so. Now keep in mind we have all older cars a 1997 and a 1999, and the one we game him is a 2000,.

So it has finally stopped raining and now it is sunny but is is 415pm so it is to late to go to the lake but we can take them to the playground, that is always fun. I will be back

The playground was alot of fun. It was just Me, Tim, Emily, Brendan, and Logan.  You might be sitting there because I used the word “just” when most people do not even have 5 people in their family and I use the number 5 like it is hardly anyone. For us to just have 5 of us, it seems like a very small group. So we played on the playground for a while and then we went to play basketball which is where the excitement began. We started with a game of HORSE. You know how that game goes. The person to go first tries to make a basket and whoever makes a basket first sets the criteria for everyone. We all must make the shot from that spot or you risk getting the risk letter of the word HORSE. Before long Logan had an H and he was pouting because he did not want a letter. Emily said to Logan just be glad you are not a Ho like I am. Most of us were Ho’s except me, I was a Hor. We all started laughing. What a bad game, eh. Emily ended up winning the game because we all went from being Hors and somehow turned into Horses. Next we played a team vs team game. The teams were Tim and Brendan vs. Me and Emily. Logan decided that he was going to be the coach for both teams which was really funny. He called us over and said to us “Ok we wanna have a good game so no punching, kicking, biting, spitting, pushing, or shoving. Now let’s have a good game.” With that we started playing. I played a little rough, well we all did, and Logan kept stopping us to tell us the rules again. “Guys, guys, no shoving” At the end of the game the girls won, that’s right, Emily and I won, I kind of think, Tim let us win. Brendan was not happy. We all left the court except Brendan. He threw the ball back into the basket and proclaimed that it was now 6-5 and that the boys won. We went back over to the play ground for a little while and let them play on the playground for a while and Tim and I just sat on the bench and talked. I cannot even begin to tell you how nice sitting on a bench and just talking is. It is the absolute best. It is like we are alone, except for the fact that kids are running around the playground.

When we got home we made hamburgers and french fries for dinner, 16 burgers, and 3 pounds of french fries, and 3 pounds of corn. Dylan and David made dinner because we decided to be nice to them and let them go and see the Transformers with TJ and that we would pay for the 3 or them to go. So the kids stayed up late watching movies downstairs and Tim and I watched movies as well.

Thanks for reading, read our blog tomorrow.

Root Canals are Hereditary and Drive Me Crazy Please

Like many of my days lately, my day actually began at 1230AM when TJ the oldest got home from work and had to come in to share some very important information. You see his car made it all the way from work on eighth of a tank of gas. He was so shocked that ever since I bought him those new tires last week that his car is even getting better gas mileage. Like it couldn’t wait till the morning………. Now keep in mind that we were sound asleep…..So he interrupted the nice sleep and shared his wonderful news.

So I tried to go back to sleep tossed and turned thought about life, the existence of life, and all the things I would have to do today. Before I knew it I glanced at the clock and it was 145AM, I really had to fall asleep.

So 600AM came and Tim got up and got Logan and Brendan ready for school, they were the only ones who had school. He got them up, dressed, and fed them breakfast. He was the wonderful husband that he usually is and let me sleep.

I woke up at 9AM, it was time to get to work. First we all got up and had breakfast. Breakfast time at our house is never simple, even when 2 kids are at school. Gotta get out 9 bowls, 9 spoons, a gallon of milk, 3 boxes of cereal, and a gallon of orange juice. Even with all of that food they were looking for more, before long a 4th box of cereal was completely used up. You see it all depends on what kind of cereal I buy. If I buy Fruity Pebbles, or Captain Crunch or some other kid oriented kind they eat alot of it. Not only do they eat it for breakfast, but they eat it for snack. I end up going through boxes and boxes of it. When I am smart I buy some boxes of Frosted flakes just to save money.

So I have breakfast and start work. Today is going to be a busy day. We have dentists appointments for Dylan, David and Brendan. Brendan, and Logan have to be picked up from school then we have to go straight over to the dentist.

June was a great month for us, before June we were like many other American families we were uninsured. Talk about a scary and very expensive ordeal. In our case Dylan broke his back during our uninsured period so now we have over $3,000 in bills from him alone. That’s is not counting the bill from David when he had a ruptured eardrum, Logan and his hives or one strep throat attack, or the $600 in medication we pay for every month. So June was a good month because we were able to get the kids on health insurance, not Tim and I but the kids. So they now have health insurance and a really good dental plan. They have never had a good dental plan. They have always received dental care as needed. So now finally they can get everything they need, and I had a feeling it would be well worth it.

So 11AM comes we pick up Brendan and Logan and drive over with Dylan to the dentist office. Dylan goes in first. We are worried that Dylan is going to fight with them. You see Dylan has a fear of needles. We took him to a plastic surgeon last year to fix his cauliflower ear and he would not let the doctor touch his ear, he was going to beat the doctor up. So as you can imagine we were a little concerned at how he was going to act here at the dentist. So when they called his name we sent him in by himself. Driving over they all had lots of questions for us. They wanted to know what was going to happen to them. They cleaned Dylan’s teeth, and gave him a thorough exam. They came out to give us the report. Now keep in mind the last time he went to the dentist for a exam which was 3 years ago, he had no cavities, this time he had 12 cavities and also needs a root canal.

So you wonder what has changed with Dylan, well he has discovered soda, as has David. Now we do not buy soda for the kids. For one it costs to much and secondly it is bad for them. They buy it with their own money and TJ and Bradley buy it and give them some. They also buy alot of candy with their chore money.

Meanwhile, we have been getting text messages like crazy from home from Emily. She has been wanting a play by play update on the dentist appointments. When she heard about Dylan she wanted to know if this meant that she would have to have a root canal because she heart about Dylan’s, we decided to tease her a bit and we told her that it was hereditary and that they would all have to have a root canal. So for the next couple of hours there was a panic back at the ranch, all dealing with root canals.

Next up was Brendan, it was now 1pm, talk about taking forever. Brendan was very grown up he went in by himself, which was nice. His cleaning and exam went well, his report was much better he only had 1 cavity and has a mixture of baby and big teeth.

We then had to wait over an hour for David’s turn, which we all knew would be the worse. David is very very shy. When he was younger he was diagnosed with autism which was later changed to selective mutism which is much more accurate. He does not like to be touched so we knew this would be interesting. The problem is not only does he not like to be touched he does not like his toothbrush. We fight with him all the time about it, I mean all the time. He has a problem with being overly sensitive. When he was in preschool we used to have a physical therapist who used to come to our home to try to desensitize him, guess it didn’t word. Well needless to say he went into the dentist and he had many cavities and needs 2 root canals and 2 caps, I know pretty bad and I can imagine how bad he must have been in the office because his hygienist was not very pleasant.

So after a very long day at the dentist office, we end up getting home at 430pm. It was then that I heard the news about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. I could not believe that two people that meant so much to this generation could pass away in the same day.

So we got home and tried to catch up with some work that I missed while trying to process all the days events and the deaths of the celebrities. That is when Amanda decided that she needed some attention. Tim and I were sitting on our bed with our laptops. She burst in our room demanding to know why she could not go to her boyfriends house. This was a discussions we had been having for months. You see she could not go to her boyfriends house because her boyfriend was a 17 year old boy and she is a 16 year old girl. We could not trust who would be supervising them at all times. We do not mind it when he comes here as we are certain that someone will always be here to spy or annoy them at all times, but who knows what would happen there. She gets herself so worked up over it. We told her that we were not discussing it now, that we were busy and to leave the room. We told her to come back tomorrow. Emily told her to book an appointment to come and see us.

We ended up getting so wound up with everything that before we knew it, it was already 8pm and we had not gone to wrestling and had not made dinner, and Dylan was complaining that Caesar was out of food. So we took the easy way out,and went to McDonalds. I should say we thought we were taking the easy way out.

We went to the grocery store picked up dog food, food for breakfast and lunch, and beverages, lots of water and diet soda for Tim and I. We went to McDonalds with a very detailed list: 8 McDoubles, 6 McChickens, 6 Small Fries, 2 Happy Meals, 1 Strawberry Milkshake, 3 Hot Fudge Sundaes, and 2 Large Dies Sodas, The Bill $45, and we didn’t even get the kids drinks. To make matters even worse, they were all still hungry.

So we got home at around 845PM, fed them all dinner, demanded that chores got done, and by 930 Logan fell asleep, he was covered in hives again because he fell asleep next to the air conditioner again. And now it is 1130PM and everyone else is still awake. I am sitting in bed watching TV and catching up on work. Emily is sitting here with me reading this over my shoulder I am not sure her umbilical cord was ever cut. We like her anyway. Well thanks for reading, hope you will turn in tomorrow, for more antics.

Big Fights Small Fights

The day actually started around 1AM as David started complaining about his teeth. He said he was teething. We offered some motrin or tylenol, but he is afraid of swallowing pills, we got out of bed and found liquid medicine but he was to afraid to take that to. He came in several times after that too. After that I just could not fall asleep. I kept thinking about everything from how much the kids were going to drive me crazy to how much work I had no gotten done yet, everything. And of course the big question on everyone in the family’s mind should we move? It was a question we were getting hounded with everyday. Some of the kids want to move to Henderson, Nevada, some want to move to South Carolina, and some, well I have no clue. So after much tossing and turning maybe I got 3 or 4 hours of sleep, so I woke up a mess.
Today was also the first day of the summer when the middle school kids were home, the only two that had school were Brendan and Logan, and Logan had a half day. Dylan is getting grouchier every day. In case I didn’t tell you he broke his back. We all felt really bad for him initially but now he is driving all of us crazy to the point where I think if he was 18 he would be living out on the streets. He fights with everyone even with Logan the 5 year old. If you just glance at him he is ready to start a fight. Now we all understand it, he is bored he wants to wrestle, he is depressed, we all get it, but come on we are your family we didn’t break his back.
Today my husband and I were doing work, quite successfully until the first fight broke out at around 10AM Amanda accused Emily of breaking her sandal and ripping off the flower off the shoe. Now we have no idea who did, who was wearing them. So how can we solve the problem, no do I really care about a sandal. I have grants to write, clients to keep happy, that is what I care about. David woke up around 11. Naturally he tooth or teeth still hurt. We called up the dentist made him an appointment for tomorrow. Dylan came in complaining as well, looks like he has an abscess. Now we really do not plan these things in groups, just happens that way when you have so many children. So we called back up the dentist and decided that it was time to get all of their teeth cleaned so Tim scheduled all of them for teeth cleanings. Tomorrow Dylan and David are going along with Brendan.
So Lunchtime comes and I am trying hard to work, Bradley is sleeping, TJ is harassing me about moving and Logan who just got home from a half day at school is hungry. So I tell Emily to make lunch. She makes one can of tuna fish for her and Logan. Next thing you know Meghan is hungry she makes a can for herself. Before you know it I go down to make lunch for Tim and I, and there is no more tuna fish I do a little counting and realize that there are 8 kids home, 1 is sleeping and they have eaten 6 cans of tuna fish, pretty amazing, eh? You see we go through a lot of food but even that is crazy for us.
Brendan comes home from school at 3 and before you know it Dylan is fighting with Brendan, Brendan hits Dylan with a soda bottle and Dylan punches Brendan who is 9 in the back, pretty mature for a 17 year old. See what I mean for how grouchy Dylan is.
Bradley finally wakes up at some point in the day and I give him a little push by placing his ad for web site design on Craigslist and help him design a game plan. He comes up with great plans just needs a little help in motivation and in actually doing things.
Well Tim made dinner and it is now time to eat. Dinner for tonight is 6 pounds of chicken thighs, 6 boxes of kraft mac n cheese, and 4 cans of corn along with a gallon of milk. I will continue after dinner.

After dinner the kids were fighting over the computer, and Tim and I were watching Wipeout and the I Survived A Japanese Game Show, talk about funny. Those shows are so funny, I was laughing so hard. Logan fell asleep on the livingroom floor. Brendan is sleeping too. Everyone else is still awake. I would chase them into bed but then they would be up early, and who wants that. I may actually have some time in the morning to do some work if they are sleeping.

We did not make it down to wrestling tonight, things just got to crazy, I feel really bad that we did not make it down. I feel like they are going to forget how to wrestle. It is terrible for us to miss so much time. When Dylan was wrestling, prior to his broken back we went every single day and went to tournaments almost every weekend. We had articles written about us and a movie made about our family, about the wrestling aspect. There was even a reality show that wanted us on the show, bet you can guess which one.

Well I am going to write a few articles before I go to sleep and maybe take a shower, it is really hot in here. Have a good night. Thanks for reading and hope you come back tomorrow.
